Questions before you print
the questions every parent asks first
- What is Scribble Works?
-
Printable games for little learners, ages 2–10. Each game is one printed page with one real learning goal — tracing, counting, first sounds, a maze. Pick any 6 and they become a playset: one PDF that opens with a page for you, saying what each game teaches. Then it’s you, a printer, and a box of crayons.
- Is it free?
-
Yes. Every game on the shelf prints free, and you don’t need an account or an email address to do it. That part stays free, and it is not going to stop being free.
- Do I need an account?
-
Not to browse and not to print. You need one for the two things that are actually yours: having the AI customize a game for your kid, and having your playset follow you from your phone to your laptop. There is no password — you give us an email address, we send you a link, you press it. What we store is listed on the Privacy page, and it is a short list.
- How do I print these?
-
Every page is US Letter (8.5 × 11 in), portrait, sized for a home printer. A few things that help:
- Plain copy paper is fine. Save the cardstock.
- Print at 100% (“Actual size”, not “Fit to page”) so the tracing lines stay the right width for small hands.
- Black and white works for tracing, mazes, and counting pages. Color is a treat, not a requirement.
- Games tagged Low ink on their page were built with the ink bill in mind. Start there if you’re rationing toner.
- Download one game from its own page (“Print this game”), or add 6 to the tray on the shelf and download the whole playset at once.
- Where do the games come from, and who makes them?
-
Scribble Works is a small studio run by one dad. It started because he was printing pages for his own preschooler at the kitchen table and kept wanting better ones. Every game is designed here with our own tools and run through a real home printer before it lands on the shelf. New games are added as they’re finished; the shelf shows what exists today, not a catalog we’re promising.
- What happens to the note I type about my kid?
-
The playset planner on the home page lets you tap a few chips, add a sentence about your kid if you like, and Ray picks 6 games from the shelf. Your note goes to our picker once and isn’t kept. When you customize a game, the name you type in the name box is stripped before anything reaches the AI; only our own code writes it onto the page afterward. A saved customized page can contain that printed name. A grown-up can separately save a child’s first name or nickname, birth date, interests and language in the account’s Kids section to size and personalize games, but that saved information never goes to the AI when customizing. Only the name box is stripped, so leave names out of the sentence you write. What a customization makes — the words and pictures — we do keep, so the best ideas can join the shelf for everyone, anonymously and never with a name attached. The picker runs on Anthropic’s Claude, whose standard policy holds requests for up to 30 days before deleting them. Anything shaped like an email address or phone number is stripped before a planner note leaves us, but names are not, so leave names out of that note too. The full story is on the Privacy page.
